About

I am interested in banal moments of routine and habit. It seems to make more sense turning my attention inward and focusing my awareness on the quotidian nature of domestic spaces. My work emphasizes often-overlooked moments of routine and ritual that define habitation. I pull imagery directly from my experiences. Through these experiences, I consider the dependability of the mundane and reanalyze space and perspective.

Painting requires awareness. It is a meditative act that demands negotiation of thought and feeling. This rumination of materiality, color and surface reflects my thoughts and feelings toward cohabitation and building a home. I discover these small moments of negotiation involved in sharing a home. As I explore the spaces of my life I reflect on intimacy.

My interest in visualizing the psychology of everyday domestic scenes of cohabitation through multiple points of view, askew perspective, and saturated colors is why I paint. Through this meditative act, I can further engage in an introspective dialogue about my daily life. Inviting my viewers to reflect on how the small moments in our lives can resonate with meaning.
